Charl Pretorius – M.A. Clinical Psych

Charl obtained his Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at North-West University in South Africa. Following two years working in a sub-acute psychiatric hospital, he moved to Ireland in 2006 where he started working in the areas of dual diagnosis, learning disability and autism, as well as lecturing on early childhood assessment at the University of Limerick. In the subsequent six years he focused his practice in the areas of infant, child and adolescent mental health, whilst continuing to work also with adults with wide ranging mental health presentations. He immigrated to Australia in 2012 and has worked across various sectors in Australia including not-for-profit organizations, education and as a private practitioner.
Currently Charl sees clients of all age groups for assessment, diagnosis and therapy.
For the 0-5 age group he provides developmental assessment using the Griffith’s Mental Developmental Scales and collaborates with families to develop learning target programs towards remediating developmental delays.
He provides educational and mental health assessment for children & adolescents, is an Autism assessor and provides intervention for children of all ages, including those struggling with emotional problems, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioural difficulties and Autism.
Charl also provides therapeutic intervention for adults, couples and families presenting with a range of emotional and mental health difficulties.
